Woody’s 100th Birthday Fast Approaching! Good interview here with Jeff Place, Smithsonian archivist in charge of the 100th Anniversary recording project.
Coolest thing we’ve catalogued all week.
Well, actually, we haven’t yet catalogued this amazing 1932 mimeographed handbill from the Ukrainian Group of the Muskegon, Michigan Communist Party, but we will, soon. It just doesn’t get any more ephemeral than this, folks (with holograph corrections, no less — how many of these did they make? 10? 15?)! The text encourages both white and black workers to “come and use your voice and suggestive points” (not, we hope, an invitation to point suggestively…ah, that English, she is a difficult). Part of a large collection of Michigan Communist Party ephemera recently acquired by us, to be offered in our May 1st Catalog, coming up in, well, May! Want one? Let us know!
